On this page I have included links for basic training to help leaders among those who follow Jesus that is free, or very inexpensive, to help you become more solid in understanding the Bible, how to teach it, and in other areas to help you be more effective as a leader of God’s people or as someone who is helping others find Jesus.  God bless you as you seek to lead others to walk with Jesus or find Him.

First of all let me say that there are a couple things as a leader you must do to be effective, and that without these, all the Bible teaching in the world will not help you be effective for God’s kingdom:

1. You must pray for your people and yourself.  All the time.  1 Thess 5:17 – “pray continually”

     a) Paul’s advice to Timothy in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 was to pray.  “I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good and pleases God our savior who wants everyone to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

    b) Ephesians 6:18: “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

2.  You must get to know the Word of God as deeply as you can.  From all you will learn by reading others, you will draw closer to God by simply reading and submitting to what you read in the power of God’s Spirit.

    a) Look to God to help you understand.  1 John 2:20-27 speaks of an anointing we have (referring most clearly to God’s Spirit) who enables us to know the truth (v 20) and who teaches us about all things (v27).  In the context the Spirit enables us to know that Jesus IS the messiah of God and to not reject the Son of God. 1 Corinthians 2: 10b-15 speaks of the presence of the Spirit as the key to understanding what is the truths from God.  In John 16:12-15 Jesus spoke of the Spirit of God as the one who would guide Jesus’ disciples into all truth.  As his disciples, it is the same for us.

    b) It is through meditating on God’s word, thinking about it, asking God to help you understand, really considering what it says, what it means, and what you should do, that God will keep you close to him and give you success.  See Joshua 1:8-10, Psalm 1, Colossians 3:16.  You must take the time to read and really look at the word.

3.  You must seek to avoid sin, confess it to God whenever you stumble into it (and constantly depend on Jesus death for you as the basis for you acceptance with God- see John 6:59-60, 1 John 1:9, Romans 1:16-17, Romans 3:23-24), to humble yourself before all that God shows you and asks of you, and to let His Spirit guide you (particularly through His word)- see Isaiah 66:2, Proverbs 3:5-6, Luke 9:23-24.

4.  You need others around you to encourage, rebuke, correct, and help you be faithful to God, as much or more than those you are leading also need you there for them. See Hebrews 3:12-13- this applies to all followers of Jesus, leaders are not exempt.  See 2 Tim 4:2- this can apply to what someone else needs to bring to you.  Colossians 3:16- notice that we teach and admonish one another, not just one group to another; James 5:16- we are all to find people to whom we can confess sins and ask for prayer; there are no elite groups that don’t need this.

Having said all this I would urge you to get good teaching in the following things to start with to help you lead God’s people, or to help others find Him and become part of His people.

I will be providing more resources and links over time to update and upgrade this site.

Master’s Bible School   You will need to contact them and see if they can/will come to your area to offer training for leaders.  All they ask is one days pay for the local area is the cost for about 8 to 12 days of training.  If your location is too dangerous, they may be able to come to a nearby location or country to offer the training, to which you would need to travel.

SEAN International.  You can purchase class materials through them.  The following description is on their website:

SEAN courses are carefully programmed and self teaching, so the student does his main study during the week at home, interacting with his Study Book, his Bible and other books.

Once a week, students meet with a Tutor, who, with the aid of a Group Leader’s Guide, corrects the tests and leads group dynamics to deepen students’ understanding of what they studied during the week.
